
Apple's iTunes music store soon will be reaching 10 billion song downloads. To celebrate this achievement, Apple has announced a 10 Billion Song Countdown promotion that will award a iTunes gift card valued at $10,000 to the lucky person who downloads the 10 billionth song. Click here to enter the contest. It took iTunes close to 3 years (1033 days) to reach its first billion downloads, while the next billion songs were downloaded in less than an year (322 days). Apple's iTunes accounts for more than 69% of the digital songs and 25% of all songs (including physical discs) sold in the U.S.
Apple is reportedly preparing to introduce $0.99 TV shows just in time to coincide with the availability of its iPad tablet device next month.
